Rules & scoring

Eight rules. One stranger. Zero excuses.

Read it once and you'll never argue about a penalty again. Probably.

01

Entry requirement

Ranked rounds unlock only when your board holds the required number of real friends — 49 by default. Each friend must have created their own account through your dedicated invite link and set their own name and avatar.

02

The board

Every ranked round builds a fresh grid: your friends plus exactly one imposter. The imposter is a generated identity — a name, emoji and colour combination that belongs to none of your friends. Tiles are reshuffled each round.

03

The clock

The timer starts when the board reveals and runs in hundredths of a second. It stops the instant you tap the imposter. There is no pause, and closing the tab mid-round forfeits it.

04

Wrong accusations

Tapping a real friend adds a 3-second penalty to your final time. Penalties stack with no limit. The round does not end — you keep hunting with the extra seconds already attached.

05

Scoring

Final time = raw time + (wrong accusations × 3 seconds). The leaderboard ranks by final time, ascending. Your best ranked round is the one that matters; earlier rounds stay on record.

06

Winners

The admin sets the winners count per season. Everyone inside that cut-off at the end of the season takes a prize — cash, physical, or both, depending on their position.

07

Fair play

One board per person. No throwaway accounts to inflate your friend count, no scripts, no automated tap tools. Boards that look manufactured are removed from prize contention.

08

Practice rounds

Practice mode uses a generated board and is open to everyone, signed in or not. Practice results are never stored on the leaderboard and never count towards prizes.

7.42s

You found the imposter in seven and a bit seconds.

Penalties

+6.00s

You wrongly accused two actual friends. Bold.

Final time

This is the number the leaderboard cares about.
